Are you familiar with the show "House Hunters" on HGTV? This show follows a family, couple or individual as they search for their perfect home, whether it be a house, townhouse or condo. The show introduces the viewer to the family/couple/individual in their current (most of the time, cramped) apartment/condo/house as they're asked questions as to what they want in their new space. Most want more storage, some want a yard for their dogs, others want a garage, some mention their desire for a "man cave" (yes, oddly enough that's the term used), most want a larger bathroom/kitchen/master bedroom/foyer/etc. Then the show videotapes them with their realtor visiting three potential homes as they wander about the space making comments all the while. "The bathroom is kind of small," or "The kitchen is dated," (that's a common comment) or "Are there hardwoods underneath the carpet," or "I have a foot cramp," (just kidding). And then, after they've seen the three possibilities, they choose one on which to make an offer. Sometimes the couples disagree as to what features are most important in their future home. In fact, during last night's episode the wife actually snapped at her husband, "Why can't you just LIKE it?" in reference to a home she loved and he wasn't too fond of. Charming. It's times like those when you get to witness, through the magic of television, true love.
It's part game show - "Monty, I'll pick what's behind door number two please" - and part voyeur's dream as you watch these people attempt to make an enormous decision as to which home they want to purchase. Sounds exciting and intriguing, yes? Well it is to us, especially since we're beginning our real-life House Hunters "episode."
That's right, Lucky and I will begin the house hunting process today. Unfortunately, I'll be going solo (well, it'll be our realtor and me) since my girl will be at work during the day. Our hope is that I'll weed through the homes/condos we know we're not interested in purchasing and narrow the search down to a few possibilities. And then Lucky will join me in our house hunting quest as we make a decision together.
True, there will be no camera crew following me, but you can bet I'll be making comments as if there were.
As always, we're sending lots of love and hugs across the miles...the girlz
