pumpkins, work and life

we seem to be melding into life here in our new city fairly well. we pretty much know our way around town and only have to refer to our map on rare occasions, we're participating in activities despite the rain (a big one if you live in the pac nw) and we're now well-equipped with proper raingear. that wasn't the case on sunday, however, when we went to the pumpkin patch with our friends liz and gloria. it was steadily raining and a little chilly, but we had a great time! how many people can say they've taken a hayride out to a pumpkin patch in the rain while sitting on soaking wet hay bales? not many, i dare say.

fall has arrived and the colors are bursting from the leaves. it's a little later than we're used to, but seeing all the glorious golds, reds and oranges is amazing! it's a time of change and we're embracing it.

work continues to go well for me (lucky) although it's really sucky to leave mn and kandinsky every morning. i feel like i'm missing out on so much. we should come up with a "life leave" benefit that resembles the maternity leave benefit. that might not be such a good idea for me, though, since i'd always want to use more life leave than i'd accrued. mn and i definitely think we'd be much better people if neither of us had to work and were independently wealthy. but unless we hit the lottery, that won't be the case. so if i must work, i can't imagine a better place than the art museum here. the people are fun, the work is exciting and innovative, the creative process is collaborative and invigorating.

we've been readying the apartment and are super excited about the arrival of our new roomie. we know she's going to fall in love with the city just as we have. we plan to do our very best to introduce her to our favorite spots, and we're sure it won't take her long to discover favorite spots of her own. welcome, vivi! we love you!

thanks to all of y'all who continue to read our chronicles of adventure. we're so thrilled we have a way to share all of our craziness with the people we love the most. we gotta give a shout out to my lil bro who is (or was - maybe he's back already) touring the coast of florida on his hawg. we love you, lil bro and we hope you had a great trip. everyone take care and keep reading. we love y'all.

here are some photos from our trip to the pumpkin patch - enjoy...
